The President is elected by the Media Council for a term of five years. He is in charge of day-to-day operations of the BLM and acts as its external representative. Together with the Managing Director as his permanent deputy, he executes the decisions taken by the Media Council and the Administrative Council and issues orders in matters of great urgency.

Funding

Under the German Interstate Broadcasting Treaty, a share of approx. two per cent of the lincence fee income of each state may be devoted to the licensing and regulation of private broadcasting by the respective regulatory authority. The BLM thus receives less than a two per cent share of the licence fee income raised in Bavaria.
